Hello i hope that this Memorial Day is finding everyone enjoying time with their families as it has been done in the past. As a parent myself i have been in situations that scare me to death, the reason i say this is because in the past, parents wore their titles with honor and raised their children to be respectful of their elders and each other. Communication was a daily occurrence in the home and their was love for their neighbors, themselves, etc. Today the only communication that seems to take place is on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc. and the communication usually is something of the negative. More parents today find themselves acting like their children by spewting more negativity on these social websites than they realize. They have forgotten that their children access same websites on a regular basis and act in a similar negative fashion. Facebook is a great website to find lost relatives and friends and reconnect with them but lately parents as well as their children have found a way to use this helpful website to promote negativity.
Parents in the past used to monitor their child's behavior and correct them or maybe the neighbor corrects them. Today's parents respond to any 'corrective action' from anyone besides themselves with so much child-like behavior that it begins to give the child the false impression that their behavior is fine. Parents in the past conducted themselves in a somewhat respectable manner, they didn't try to act like their children, dress like their children or talk like their children, they gave their children a real role model to emulate. Today's parents seem to be stuck in the past mostly in their early twenties! They are dressing less and less like parents should, they are riding around on '16s or 20s' blasting rap music dressing in 'throwbacks' hollering at the young girls on a daily basis! They are partying with their children and worse yet, posting child-like posts on these social websites! Some are even hanging on the corners with their kids!
I don't know about any of you but if this is what our children have as role models, this next generation and our country are in real trouble, what do you think?
